Long Overdue Update

I know it's been a while, a LONG while, but I've had quite the whirlwind of life in the past 6 months.  So let's start off in March, I worked at the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournamnet and had a great time.  I worked a lot in April and then in May, I walked in my graduation ceremony.  End of May comes along and I travel to Australia for a study abroad trip to receive a concentration in International Hospitality Operations Management.  It was an amazing trip, and I got to see a lot of great things and learn about the hospitality procedures in another country.  I got home the beginning of July, so I just returned to the search of finding an internship and finding a job.  I got hired as a manager for Bath & Body Works.  It was going well, but the internship was not.  I looked and applied everywhere, but wasn't really getting any responses.  Then come mid-August, The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa called me.  I did 3 phone interviews and got the internship.  I moved to Hawaii on September 4, 2010 to work in Catering and Convention Services.  And the rest is history.  I am 2 weeks away from completing my internship.  I now OFFICIALLY have my degree from JWU and it is very exciting.  I've got to work some great events while I've been here.  And it doesn't hurt that one my days off I get to sit by the beach or the pool :) I feel very lucky.  My last major event here at SMR is working on the Maui Invitiational.  It is a annual basketball tournament that happens in Lahaina, HI.  And my favorite team happens to be competing this year, must be fate.  I've been having such a blast here.  But, as I close this BIG chapter in my life, I am looking to open another one.  I've have been applying for jobs everywhere from Boston to Seattle.  I'm young, creative, and ready to take on the world.  This is the perfect time in my life to start my career.  Move somewhere, reinvent myself, and just have a great time living my life.  And that is what I plan to do.  I'm moving back to the east coast in December, and hopefully I will find a job soon.  I have had a couple of interviews, but nothing too secure yet.  I'm really enjoying life right now.  I feel very blessed to be where I am in my life.   I hope that I can start my career with fresh and innovative ideas and keep that motviation that I had all throughout college.  Time to open my next chapter and see where it leads....

Thanks for reading,
Courtney
